Campbell Colquhoun

Campbell has played a vital role in the 1st X1 hockey team since Year 11, having played 52 caps. Do not let his cool, calm demeanour off the field fool you, he is an aggressive and energetic player with an uncanny ability to carry the ball at speed, with only one hand on the stick. His natural speed and acceleration are an asset to the team, you will often hear calls of "WHEELS!" to encourage him when he gets the ball. Campbell never fails to launch an attack if the opportunity arises. He has a huge work ethic and has played all games so far this season. Campbell plays in the mid-field but is all over the field, attacking and defending where needed. Campbell has grown exponentially since joining the 1st XI and his presence in the team has undoubtedly contributed to the success in recent times.

Benjamin Allen

Benjamin has been a member of St Paul's 1st XI Hockey team since Year 10, earning himself 50 caps. He has a huge work ethic and always puts his body on the line when required. Benjamin positions himself well and is always keen to create attacking opportunities. He is a dependable leader and a real asset to the team. Benjamin has been selected to represent Waikato Hockey, where he is currently a member of the Waikato Under 18s team and has also been a member of the Waikato Under 13s and Under 15s teams.

Jae Broomfield

Jae made his debut verses Napier Boys' High School, following a late start to the 2020 season, due to the Covid lockdown. Originally playing on the wing where he showed good speed, great offloading ability, and support skills, Jae was moved to centre and has never looked back - playing every minute of every game to date. He has a big presence on the field on both attack and defence, with his silky skills and speedy footwork. Defensively can read the attacks of the opposition, and makes great decisions with his tackling. A leader within the 2021 team as co-captain, Jae is fit, fast, and durable which is essential to play at the next level. He was also selected to play in the 2020 Chiefs U18 programme.

Thomas Came

Thomas made his debut in 2019 verses Palmerson North Boys' High School and following a change in position to the front row in year 11, he has gone from strength and turned into a key member of our 2021 squad. Playing nine games in his first season, he was rewarded in selection with the Waikato U16 rugby team, winning the Northern Region tournament. Two years of hard work has got Thomas to become a genuine threat in parts of the game and field. A solid defender and an eye for a gap on a spice line and anchor at scrum time. A man of few words but leads by his actions who "brings the sting" to every session and we look forward to seeing his continued growth during the 2021 season.

Malachi Alec-Wrampling

As a young Year 11, Malachi made his debut versus Wesley College in 2019, having an immediate impact and playing 14 games in the first season. He always has a big presence on the field being powerful with ball in hand, dominance in defence, and subtle with skills in small spaces. Last year Malachi had a disruptive season with injury but has bounced back in great condition, ready to lead our pursuit of a "4peat". Selected for the Chiefs U18's in 2020, if Malachi continues his development, he could have a big future in the game.
