Alice Cao, who has completed her high school education in just four years, was announced as Dux at the 59th annual St Paul's prizegiving ceremony held on Saturday 1 December.

Our education system is going through a very significant period of review in a multitude of areas including state school governance, learning support and a review of NCEA.

Sports and culture at St Paul's were celebrated at an annual awards dinner held on Friday 19 October. The following students were awarded colours in their chosen sport to acknowledge their commitment, dedication, determination and passion. They, along with the students listed below who received Supreme Awards, are to be congratulated.

St Paul’s has once again had a significant number of senior students gain tertiary scholarships for 2019. We are proud to have received news of 35 students gaining scholarships. Where senior students have been awarded multiple scholarships, they will need to make a decision as to which university they will be studying at in 2019. The recipients are:

The final addition to the Mary Hornsby Music Centre, the Mulgrew Family Recording Studio, was officially opened on Monday 19 November. The studio was generously donated by St Paul's family, Craig, Belinda, Dillion (year 13) and Tyler Mulgrew (starting at St Paul's in 2019 as a year 11).

The boarders' end of term prizegiving, held on Thursday 13 September, recognised the boarding cohort's top sporting, academic and cultural achievers in term 3.

St Paul's celebrated the best of boarding at the annual boarders' prizegiving dinner, held on Thursday 1 November. The following students were recognised for their achievements throughout the year in sporting, academics and culture.

The St Paul's Girls' Lacrosse team was placed first in the division A grade of the 2018 High School Girls' Winter League Lacrosse finals which was held on the 1 September at Tamahere.

Over the 8th and 9th of September, Thomas McAdams (Year 11) and Riley Wills (Year 9) competed in the NZ Schools Northern Tour in Auckland. Comprising of an individual time trial, hill climb and criterium racing around a short fast course amongst a crowd of spectators.

The St Paul's shooting team attended both the South Island Secondary Schools’ and National Clay Target Shooting competitions recently.

The premier boys’ side competed in the central region's zone finals in Rotorua recently.

The 2018 goals for the Boys’ Football 1st XI was to finish in the top three in the local premiership competition and to qualify for the National Top 32 Tournament - both of which were achieved.

Dylan Woodhouse represented the Passchendaele Society and St Paul’s for the 101st anniversary of Passchendaele.

Year 12 student Julia McLean received the Altrusa Youth Award at a special civic ceremony on Tuesday 30 October. Julia was nominated for her dedication in all areas of school life – service, sport, academic and cultural.
