First XI Cricket Team take on Australia

The First XI Cricket team had an unforgettable tour of Sydney during the school holidays. A big thank you to Mr Murray, Mr Ramaka, and the parents who supported the tour, as well as everyone involved in the fundraising efforts that helped make the trip possible.

The highlights included not only some great cricket but also sightseeing adventures at iconic locations like the Sydney Opera House, Bondi Beach, and the Sydney Cricket Ground. The team enjoyed the Australian weather and played at excellent cricket facilities, facing off against teams like St. Ignatius Riverview, Mosman Cricket Club, and North Sydney Greensfield.

Standout moments from the week included:

  • Jay Benefield returned from an 18-month injury break with an impressive 101 runs.

  • Kalen Lake delivered a strong performance with 108 runs.

  • Archie Joll, called in as a last-minute replacement, securing a three-wicket haul.

  • Lucas Hale contributed with two great batting stints of 71 and 40 runs.

  • Finn Bell scored 31 and 26 runs.

  • Tom Yensinga achieved a remarkable four-wicket haul.

  • Campbell Soanes impressed with 20 runs and a three-wicket haul.

  • Excellent fielding from Leyton Birch and Quintus Daniel.

The tour left the team with great memories and valuable experience. Best of luck to the boys as they head into the summer season, including the highly anticipated Top 6 tournament in December!
