2022 Apollo Projects Ltd National Age Group Swimming Championships

Eight St Paul's students competed at the 2022 Apollo Projects Ltd National Age Group Swimming Championships from 19-24 April in Wellington, taking home six medals and plenty of top ten finishes:

  • Laura Littlejohn (Year 13) continued her winning streak taking home three gold medals in the 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, and 100m freestyle. Laura also claimed second place in the 400m freestyle and 50m butterfly. These results have qualified Laura to compete in five events at the Junior Pan Pacific games in Hawaii in late August.

  • The break out swim of the meet belonged to Nathan Tebbutt (Year 10), who stunned in the water, winning his first national age group title in the 14 year old boys' 50m butterfly. Nate also made three other finals, with a second best finish of 7th in the 100m butterfly.

  • Amelie Austin (Year 11) made two final races, finishing 7th in the 800m freestyle, and had four personal best swims.

  • John Park (Year 9) swam in five events, finishing with a best place of 7th in both the 100m butterfly and the 50m breaststroke.

  • Ben Haskell (Year 13) had three personal bests in three of his four events, with a best finish of 8th in the 100m backstroke.

  • Head Boy Samuel Peoples (Year 13) achieved four personal bests, with a top place of 8th in the 200m individual medley race.

  • Sophie Perry (Year 12) swam in three events, two of which were personal bests, and had a best finish of 12th in the 200m individual medley.

  • Swimming in his first national meet, Stephen Miller (Year 9) finished 19th in the 13 year old 50m freestyle race.
