Water polo by St Paul's Collegiate School

Water polo season report

The St Paul's Collegiate School water polo team experienced a great deal of growth this year with 18 students signed up to play.

With only 13 able to play at any one time, it meant competition for positions and game time was strong. A large number of juniors signed up with a significant number of experienced seniors leading from the front.

The team entered the Waikato mixed competition and after the completion of the round-robin, they were placed fourth.

A semi-final against the unbeaten Cambridge High School mixed side resulted in a pulsating game and a two-goal loss 6-4.

St Paul's then played Rototuna High School for third and fourth and came away with an 11-3 victory.

Strong performances this year were captain Oscar Lawson (Year 12) in goal and attack from Isabella Etherington (Year 12), Georgie Bailey (Year 12), Grace Lenton (Year 12) and Mackenzie Lenton (Year 12) just to name a few.

We are looking at creating two sides in 2023 and would welcome more players to join, in particular juniors to help form a junior males side.
