Matthew Chanwai plays organ for Pakuranga Choral Society

Organ scholar Matthew Chanwai (Year 12) showed off his skills developed from the prestigious Organ Scholarship Programme offered by St Paul’s Collegiate School. After being part of the programme with teacher Dr Philip Smith, Matthew has recently performed with well-known New Zealand composer David Hamilton. David Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s most widely performed composers, strongly involved in choral music worldwide.

On Sunday 22 May, Matthew was the organist for the Pakuranga Choral Society concert at All Saints’ Church in Auckland. David Hamilton conducted the concert, whose new piece “Silent Night, Holy Night” had its world premiere.
