Meet the new Tihoi staff: Michael King
Returning Tihoi Venture School instructor, Michael King is rejoining the community at Tihoi as the Head of Operations.
A familiar face around Tihoi, Mike has been part of the programme for many years having worked there from 2014 to 2016, and through various contracting stints. He’s excited to be back in the close-knit team and share his passion for the outdoors with a new generation.
As a heavily qualified outdoor extraordinaire, Mike holds a diploma in outdoor education, NZOIA Rock level 1, NZOIA Bush level 1, NZOIA Canyon Leader and NZOIA Kayak Leader.
As Head of Operations, Mike is responsible for maintaining and futureproofing the facilities, tutoring Pollys House and teaching the outdoor programmes.
Mike has spent the last three years working in Queenstown canyon guiding and working on trail safety at Coronet Peak.
When he’s not teaching in nature, Mike is finding his next adrenaline rush whitewater rafting, rock climbing, canyoning or spearfishing.
