Wind damage at Sargood

After the powerful cyclone weekend on Sunday 13 February, the large oak tree that has shadowed the Sargood boarding house, uprooted during the gale.

There was not any extensive damage to the building, but the subsequent removal of the tree has now allowed us to investigate an outdoor dining area.  Stay tuned.

The facilities team worked hard in the aftermath to clean up a number of other fallen trees from around campus.

Black Caps and domestic talent train and play at St Paul's

Black Caps Kane Williamson and BJ Watling chose St Paul's Collegiate School to have a private cricket training session. The school's grounds curator, Ian Boyle, proudly made sure the pitch was in tip-top shape for the occasion.

Over 17-18 February, the school also hosted the New Zealand U19 Cricket team and the Northern Districts in a doubleheader 50 over game at the Way Oval. Five St Paul's Collegians Freddy Walker (Fitchett 2008-2021), Kuwyn Price (Hall 2017-2021), Dave Hancock (Sargood 2016-2019) and Matt Fisher (Hall 2013-2017) made up some of the two teams.

Whilst no spectators were permitted, it gave our students some great break-time entertainment.
