Second place for St Paul's at New Zealand Open Water Championships
Over the last weekend, a small team of St Paul's swimmers competed at the New Zealand Open Water championships held in Lake Taupō. It was great seeing our young team of 15 years and under young team performing exceptionally.
The age groups for open water are 13-14yrs, 15-17yrs, 18 and over. The whole team pushed hard together, winning 11 National medals. The club also had several swimmers participate in the 'Epic Swim' where wet suits can be used.
Open water allows our swimmers to challenge their usual environment and help grow their confidence and reliance through longer races. Well done to everyone and a special thanks to Vicki and Jermey for coaching and managing the team. The club finished in second place overall. Results:
