This year’s recipient for the Altrusa Youth Award from St Paul’s was Frazer Tam. The award recognises year 12 students across Hamilton high schools who excel in all areas of school life and are a role model for their peers.

Those students looking for leadership roles as year 13 students in the school next year, were at our Tihoi Venture School campus on Leadership Camp.

Staff continued their impressive streak of victories over the prefects, this time in a basketball challenge laid down by our student leaders to end term three.

It was a great evening celebrating the season of our netballers, culminating in awards given out for MVP, most improved and greatest contribution for each team.

The clay-target shooting team competed in three tournaments during the recent term holidays.

The squash season finished successfully for our players.

St Paul's first XI boys hockey team enjoyed victory at the 2020 Lower North Island Secondary Schools Premiership Hockey tournament.

St Paul's 1st XI hockey boys’ competed in the Worner Shield hockey tournament held in Christchurch from 15-17 July 2020.

The 1st XI girls’ hockey team hosted Hamilton Girls’ High School, Sacred Heart Girls’ College, Otumoetai College, and St Kentigern College for a two-day tournament in the first week of the July holiday break.

After an extensive rowing camp in Mangakino, Matthew Waddell has taken the upcoming season by storm by setting a new National Indoor Rowing Record for U16 age group. Matthew has set the bar high by rowing 500m in an impressive 1m 21.7s in the heavyweight category.

St Paul's had ten swimmers represent the school at the New Zealand Secondary Schools champs held in Hamilton from 15-18 October. St Paul's finished the meet placing third for co-educational schools in New Zealand and fourth overall amongst the 123 schools nationally that competed, to record their best finish in the school’s history.

Our swimmers have performed exceptionally the recent Short Course National Championships.

In recognition of the best sporting and cultural talent from this year, students and staff attended the St Paul’s Sports and Cultural Awards dinner last week.

Director of Hockey Lincoln Churchill is running a social football competition on Monday nights.

SAVE THE DATE - St Paul's annual rowing fundraiser is scheduled for 12 February 2021. Pop the date in your calendars for now and we will provide more information on auction items and what the evening will involve as the event gets closer.

The annual house rowing competition was a pulsating event, as teams from each house battled it out on the ergs for crucial points in the overall house cup race. Each rower contributed 500m for their team, with the first to cross the finish line declared the winner.

Recently our football players celebrated their successes across the season at their annual awards evening.

Over the long weekend Riley Wills and Lewis Yetsenga competed in the Emerson Whaka 100, considered one of the toughest single day mountain biking events in the Southern Hemisphere.

Congratulations to our 1st XI hockey boys' team who fought off a strong Wellington College side to win the Lower North Island Premiership tournament recently.

Congratulations to our U14 rugby team who won their final, beating Hamilton Boys' High School in a nail-biting game to win 28-24.

Congratulations to the following boys who were selected for the NZ Barbarians U18 Development Camp - Chiefs Region for 2020. The camp ran from 28 September until 1 October and was held right here at St Paul's.

As a special fixture to end the season, our under 55kg Gold rugby team travelled down the road to take on the Southwell School 1st XV.

The 2020 inter-house Winter Sports Day was a huge success on Friday 11 September. The final results from the competition are:
