St Paul's Fashion ShowGrease - Fitchett House by St Paul's Collegiate School

St Paul's Fashion Show

For those not in attendance, the Harington Fashion show is an event difficult to accurately recount while doing justice to the precision and professionalism displayed on stage.

As the final bell rang last Friday afternoon every last girl of St Paul's Collegiate was straight out of class and into the final preparations leading up to the 7:00pm deadline. The theme chosen for 2021 was ‘A Night at the Theatre’ with each house being allocated a different musical ranging from old to new. After months of hard work the girls were more than ready for the event to finally be over.

At 5:30pm the first round of judging began with our judes Benny Marama, Allanah Robson and Maree Stewart, having the difficult task of rating both the girls costumes and cakes. With an updated marking schedule the 4 categories that determined the overall results of the night were… Speech and Catwalk, Baking, Musical Item, and the garment. With half of these aspects being judged in Harington day house before the event had even officially begun, it was evident that the bar had been set high and everyone in attendance was eager to see what was to follow.

As Williams opened the night with their comedic skit inspired by their musical, The Greatest Showman, the audience seemed to get their first indication of the quality and passion that each house was to bring to the stage. With the conclusions of each house's performance, it seemed there were no exceptions to the high standards on display. Ultimately, the night was one all those in attendance enjoyed with much praise for all the girls and their work. With the attendance being larger than any previous we are excited to donate $3,620 to Heart Kids Foundation.

The event was one of dance, song, fashion, food, laughter and amazement with every girl in attendance contributing to the success of the night be it through the skit, cake or the outfit. The results were (unsurprisingly) extremely close and it is important to note that all the girls should equally be proud of their efforts despite this.

The final results were as follows along with their musicals…

1st: Hall House (Mamma Mia)

2nd: Fitchett House (Grease)

3rd: School House (Moana)

4th: Sargood House (The Sound of Music )

5th: William House (The Greatest Showman)

6th: Clark House (Annie)

7th: Hamilton House (High School Musical)

Harington house are extremely grateful to Scotts Electrical and Allanah Nicholson from Globox for their generous sponsoring of all the lighting for the event.

Equally the event would not have run as smoothly nor effectively without the tireless efforts of Mrs Lewis and Mrs Lock as well as all the other house staff, Mrs Lilley, Mrs Stewart, and Miss Williams.

The house leaders all led their houses with integrity and professionalism, Amy Rochat (Clark), Hazel Hulme (Sargood), Belinda Wright (Williams), Charlize Tordoff (Hall), Matire Ormsby-van Selm (School), Neisha Cooper (Fitchett) and Isabella Hills (Hamilton). The seven of them should all be acknowledged for their leadership, abilities to perform under pressure and the sacrifices they have made leading up to the event.

As the curtains draw to a close on Harington Houses’ 2021 ‘Night at the Theatres’, we would finally like to thank all those who attended the event as well as those who supported the girls leading up to it.
