Year 13 Agribusiness trip

The Year 13 Agribusiness class went on a field trip to understand the future proofing strategies of three agribusinesses: Cambridge Stud, Manuka Health and Monavale Blueberries.

The students gained an understanding of future proofing strategies and the business responses that they use.  They also learned all about producing their products and getting them to market.

Meet some of our Housemasters

Williams Housemaster, Mr Adam Ross, originates from Sydney, Australia, where he earned his Bachelor of Education degree in 2009. A passionate sports enthusiast, Mr Ross has been deeply involved in rugby as both player and coach since his school days. Despite his love for rugby and other sports, he is just as passionate about teaching calculus in the classroom.

With teaching and pastoral experience spanning Australia, the United Kingdom, and now New Zealand, Mr Ross brings a wealth of knowledge to St Paul’s Collegiate School. His favourite thing about being a Housemaster is guiding students toward achieving their sporting, academic, and cultural aspirations while instilling in them the values of Williams House. Mr Ross resides on-site with his wife, Sarah, and their three children: Dane, Charli, and Archie.

Housemaster and Collegian Mr Ryan McCarthy (Sargood 1993-1997) has been an integral part of the St Paul’s Collegiate School whaanau since 2011, serving ten of those years as a dedicated Housemaster. Mr McCarthy’s passion for CrossFit, both as a competitor and a coach, saw him represent New Zealand on the world stage.

In addition to his teaching and pastoral care role, Mr McCarthy is also the President of the Collegians Committee where he promotes and encourages fellowship among our staff, Collegians and current students.

What Mr McCarthy loves most about St Paul’s is the close-knit community and watching students flourish as they embark on their journeys beyond the school. His wife, Maree, is the Head of the PE and Health Department at Waikato Diocesan, and together they have two children, Taylor (14) and Sam (11).

Mrs Jackie Lock, the housemaster of Harington Boarding House, is the second mum to 70 girls in the "best house" on campus. She is married to Hennie, a vet, and is mother to two adult daughters.

As a housemaster, she loves to watch the girls develop into fine young women, build strong relationships with them, and support them in achieving their own goals.

Mrs Lock is an avid adventurer; she and her family love being active, including going for a run or tramping in our beautiful world. She recently completed the 80 km Torres del Paine track in Patagonia with her family.

School Housemaster Mr Daniel Teka (Sargood 2001-2005) began his journey at St Paul's Collegiate School as a student. After earning his degree in Business Analysis, he ventured into the banking sector before discovering his true passion for teaching three years later. Now, Mr Teka brings his expertise to the classroom, educating students in economics and accounting.

As a Housemaster, Mr Teka values the meaningful conversations and camaraderie within School House. Beyond his role at St Paul's, you'll find him on the sidelines coaching the Fraser Tech premier rugby team. With more than 12 years of dedicated service to the community, Mr Dan Teka is a well-known and respected figure among staff, students, and the wider St Paul's families.

Mr Summerfield is another amazing member of our St Paul's family and Housemaster of Hamilton House. He is a devoted dad to two beautiful girls.

Mr Summerfield is a music enthusiast who loves documentaries and biographies; he plays the guitar, writes music, and has been in a few garage bands. With 17 years of experience as a volunteer firefighter, Mr Summerfield has had some unforgettable moments, including rescuing a bus driver (front page of The Herald), dealing with multiple cats stuck up trees, and an explosion at a B.P. Service Station.

He is passionate about supporting students to reach their full potential and instilling a culture of unity and empathy.
