Academic

International Baccalaureate: Big congratulations to our Year 12 IB students who have made it to round two of the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad (NZIBO). Kirsty Donovan and Briar Tate have been awarded a Bronze Award due to the round one examination that they sat on August 15.

This means they have also been offered a place in the tutorial programme with the hopes of being selected for the team representing New Zealand in the World Biology Olympiad in July next year.

Please congratulate these girls when you see them.

Speech and Drama: Congratulations to the Speech and Drama students who recently took their New Zealand Speech exams and achieved exceptional results. Please refer to the attached document at the bottom for full results.

CoCurricular

Music: Competing against prominent schools from across Waikato, the 20-strong St Peter’s Petra Musica orchestral group recently participated in the ITM Music Festival at Waikato University, earning a gold award certificate. This fantastic result is a testament to months of dedication to their musical art.

"It has been rewarding to practice every day after school with other people who are interested in playing orchestral music. The music festival was a great opportunity to play against other orchestral groups," said Principal lead violin musician Yena Jung (Year 13).

Well done, team.

Tennis: Annabel Chapman (Year 11) recently participated in the Tennis New Zealand 16U Kiwi Indoor National Championships in Wellington.

Competing against some of the country’s top players, including the 2022 National Champion in the semifinals, Annabel secured third place in the Girls 16U Singles and second place in the Girls 16U Doubles with her partner from Auckland.

Rugby: Congratulations to Kees Butler (Year 12) on his selection into the Harlequins U17 representative team.

Track Cycling: A fantastic effort by St Peter’s Track Cycling Captain Jodie Blackwood (Year 12), who recently competed at the Junior World Track Cycling Championships. Jodie placed fifth in the Team Sprint and sixth in the Keirin events, achieving an exceptional result on a competitive world stage.
