Term 1 finishes positively

Julie Small —

As we close our term break, I sum up the term as one of building community, connection and celebration.

Welcoming 258 new students over the term has been a highlight as many have brought their own strengths with them to our already vibrant community.

As our teachers have worked to build positive and productive relationships with your children in both classroom and co-curricular settings, you as parents, have supported us through your attendance at parent-teacher conferences and email or phone contact with our staff. Connections matter! Strong ties with family, friends, colleagues, parents and the community provide us with a sense of purpose, lifts our wellbeing, builds our self-esteem and ultimately leads to improved mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. Thank you to each person in our community who has worked to build connections!

Yesterday we celebrated our summer tournament results in a special assembly. We really appreciate the support of our coaches, managers and parents. Congratulations to our athletes and also to those students who have made the effort to involve themselves in the wider life of our school community whether that be performing arts, cultural, sports, clubs, iterant music or speech and drama. Enabling students to involve themselves in our co-curricular programme helps stimulate creative thought, improves organisational and social skills while providing leadership learning. Students will very often thrive and strive when the curricular and co-curricular are in sync.

Today we held our Easter Service as part of a whole school community event. Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is therefore a time of rejoicing and rebirth. Eggs represent new life and rebirth.

As we move into our term break, I want to thank you for your continued support and wish you a good Easter break.

I hope you enjoy those Sunday Easter Eggs!

Take care, Nga mihi,

Julie Small
