St Peter’s successes

St Peter's, Cambridge —

St Peter’s people are performing well on stages inside and outside of the school environment. Find out more about what our people have been up to here.

Under 19 gold win: Recently, Year 13 student Sophie Penwarden and alumnae Chloe Poulter (2022) competed in the Bay of Plenty Surf Lifesaving IRB Long Haul race as part of the Coro Chicks wāhine toa team.

This SLSNZ Sport IRB Racing event physically and mentally tested the team as they raced from Ohope Beach to the Mount. The event included six stages; each arrival at a new beach along the Bay of Plenty coast delivered a task designed to challenge teams along the 95-kilometre stretch.

The team brought home gold medals in the Under 19 Women's division, racing against 30 other teams.

Cycling NZ BMX selection: Congratulations to Year 13 student Jack Greenough on his selection into the New Zealand team to compete in the Junior Men's class at the UCI BMX World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in August this year.

Jack was selected due to a top 20 placing at the Colombia UCI World Cup races in the Under 23 division in October 2022, and this year won the Junior Men National Championships. He also came second in the Oceania Champs for Junior Men.

He is currently ranked top 10 in the UCI World rankings for Junior Men. To read more, click here.

Master's Gold on the Velodrome: The St Peter’s Owls corporate track racing team recently won the gold medal at the BNZ Corporate Challenge at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome.

The team consisted of St Peter’s staff; Director of Information Services Claire Sherrington, Director of Property, Daryl Horn, Groundsman, Hayden McCormick and Track Cycling Coach, Mya Anderson, who won the highly contested Italian Pursuit mixed team event, proving that our people walk the walk, just as well as they teach what needs to be taught. Well done, team!
