Humans of St. Peter's
Introducing Hollie Matthews, Head of Admissions and Marketing
Hollie’s journey in the realm of education has been nothing short of inspiring. A Business and Law graduate from the University of the West of England, she has always harboured a deep passion for travelling and exploring new horizons, which has undoubtedly shaped her professional path.
For nearly 16 years, Hollie dedicated herself to Bristol Grammar School (BGS) in the UK. Her tenure began in January 2009, where she initially took on the responsibilities of Communications and Sixth Form Admissions. Her dedication and skill led to her appointment as Admissions and Marketing Manager in 2011, a role she held until her departure in July 2024.
Hollie's career in admissions and marketing was not a deliberate choice, but rather a natural extension of her love for working within the education sector. Hollie says: "Helping families navigate the admissions process and seeing the progress of students as they evolve into confident individuals and leaders has been a deeply rewarding experience for me."
In 2024, Hollie made the bold decision to embark on a new adventure by joining St. Peter's. After 15 years at BGS, she felt ready for a change and was eager to embrace new challenges. Her love for travel and the desire to explore the world played a significant role in her decision to relocate to the other side of the globe. Extensive research confirmed her belief that St. Peter's was an exceptional place for students, where they could freely pursue their passions with ample support. The enthusiasm and dedication of the staff further solidified her decision, and she knew that St. Peter's would be a fantastic place to continue her career.
At St. Peter's, Hollie has taken on the role of Head of Admissions and Marketing, encompassing communications and events. This position aligns perfectly with her skills and passions, offering a varied and dynamic work environment. No two days are the same for Hollie; one day she might be engaging with families at an open event, while the next she could be approving designs on a range of projects. The variety and cross-over between working with families, students, and colleagues is something she truly relishes.
Reflecting on her time at Bristol Grammar School, Hollie fondly recalls numerous memorable moments. The success of each Whole School Open Evening, being voted in as Chair of Staff, and witnessing the transformation of students on their educational journey are just a few highlights that stand out. Each achievement holds a special place in her heart, representing the significant impact she had on the school community and the lives of many students.
Hollie’s journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment and her ability to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and grace.
