New International Dean for St Peter's

Mr Simpson has been part of the St Peter’s community for the past four years since emigrating to New Zealand from South Africa with his wife in 2019.

Currently teaching in the English department, Mr Simpson also holds roles at the school as a water polo and rugby coach, and as House Assistant of Broadhurst House, one of St Peter’s boarding houses.

Mr Simpson attended boarding schools in South Africa before undertaking tertiary study at Stellenbosch University and the University of South Africa. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

In addition to his education and teaching experience, Mr Simpson brings to the role of International Dean valuable lived experience as a former international school student and boarder.

“I am a great believer in the advantages of an international education, both for the students themselves and the wider school community,” says Mr Simpson.

“International students make valuable contributions to the school, and we benefit greatly from the variety of cultures and viewpoints that come together to form the St Peter’s community.

“Having already met a number of our international students, I look forward to welcoming them back in 2024, and getting to know our new students.”

As International Dean, Mr Simpson will work closely alongside the school’s Boarding House Directors and Managers, and other senior pastoral leaders, to ensure all international students continue to receive excellent care and support.

“St Peter’s is highly regarded as an international education provider. Our central location in New Zealand means we are also well-placed to offer our international students the opportunity to engage in travel experiences, and to meet other international students from other schools,” he says.

“I’m very much looking forward to being a part of our international students’ St Peter’s experience from 2024.”
