Year 10 English students put on a 'Night at Our Museum' exhibition to present the real-life figures they are inspired by.
During Term 4, Year 10 English students studied a unit on non-fiction, which included exploring a range of biographical and autobiographical texts.
After this exploration, students chose a real-life figure they were inspired by, and wrote a monologue that embodied the persona and experiences of this individual.
Students presented their monologues in class as an assessment, but the English Faculty also wanted to share the talents and voices of our students with the wider community. Thus, the ‘Night at Our Museum’ exhibition was born.
The Year 10 students created a living museum in the Vallentine Room, where they presented themselves in character as a moving statue able to interact with visitors and teach them about their lives. The exhibition was a wonderful opportunity for rich, authentic learning and the English teachers are already looking forward to running the event again in 2024.
