Kia ora e te whānau

This week has been a fantastic week at the college as there have been many events held that have recognised and celebrated many of our senior students who have now left and are preparing for their NCEA examinations.

We began the week with our Year 12 Retreat, with a Mass and community service activities where our future school leaders came together as one to plan for their journey into 2024. This was followed by our Year 13 Leavers Mass on Wednesday. This was a lovely Mass which included our leaving Year 13 students sharing their baby photos and with the morning ending with their Year 7 buddies presenting them with their school candles. Year 12 students leaving to go into tertiary study or the work force were also farewelled and given a Bible as a token of their time here at St Peter’s College. In the last couple of weeks our focus has also moved to welcoming our new students and their whānau who will join our St Peter’s College community in 2024.

I wish to acknowledge and thank the huge team at the St Peter’s College who, have worked to ensure that all of these events were successful in not only celebrating and recognising our students, but in that they allowed us to bring together and acknowledge our wider community of parents, families and friends who have supported our young people. So, to the team at the College, who there really are too many to name individually, thank you for all of your time and support. It was noticed and appreciated.

With our senior students on study leave and now only coming into the college to sit exams or attend tutorials, although the school may feel quieter, there is a lot left in the year for our students in Years 7-10. Year 8 camp preparations are well underway and also activity days for students in Years 7-10.

A further community event I would like to highlight that is only weeks away, is the end of year Prizegiving at the Town and Country Club on Wednesday December 6th, at 7pm. Look out also for information coming out soon for the year 13 leavers dinner coming up also at the Town and Country Club on Thursday November 30th, at 6pm.

To those leaving the school, I am confident that during your time here you have been equipped with the knowledge and skills to ensure that you are empowered to pursue your own personal excellence and are prepared to challenge and shape your future. You are young people of Mercy and Charity who act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with our God and we all wish you the very best for your future.
