On 1st February China and Korea celebrated the Lunar New Year - the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere with fireworks and beautiful lighting displays.

Over the next two weeks each class will be exploring aspects of Chinese culture to recognize the importance of the Lunar New Year. We will be incorporating the winter Olympics in Beijing in our studies.

The Lantern festival is one of the celebrations to mark the start of a new lunar year. 2022 is the year of the tiger. Next Thursday our children are going to share their lantern creations in a parade and we are going to enjoy a snack of spring rolls with chilli sauce. If you would like to do research into the Lunar New Year topic with your child please do then each child can share one interesting fact with their class.

Some of us remember Mrs Dustin's class performing a fabulous lion dance in our school hall - we are hoping that we will see a reappearance of the lion dance once again !
