The Way of the Cross.

Kath Joblin —

A very special assembly was held on Tuesday to remind us all about the message of Easter.

We are Easter people, resurrection people. We believe that Christ broke through the mystery of death and he gave us the gift of new life.

" I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever"

John 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students prepared our liturgy of the word which was a mixture of events and reflections. The events were the steps Jesus took from the time he was arrested to the time he died and was placed in the tomb.

Last year the Year 5 and 6 students created 14 mosaics based on the stained glass windows in the Home of Compassion chapel, Island Bay, Wellington.

We wrote and asked permission from the Sisters to use the designs in our mosaics. They were very happy to share these special pieces of art.

A lot of time and skill has been  invested in this project by Mr Webster, our Paua team and Cath Robson, our teaching assistant. The gift of the Way of the Cross will be part of our school traditions for many years to come.
