Mrs Duncan and Miss Fielden combine in the afternoons for special interest topics.
Sometimes it's science, sometimes its kapa haka, sometimes it's art.
This term for science the Year 2 and 3 students have been talking about living creaturess and how to classify different groups ( those that can fly, swim, dig etc).
One of the skills you need in science is being able to sort and classify - the Year 3 students have been working alongside their Year 2 learning buddies to collaborate on this project.
Sorting into sets and subsets is a mathematical skill too and being able to justify the choices you have made is part of oral language.
It is amazing how many skills our students develop in the first few years at school.
