There continues to be conversation nationally about the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum. As a school, we are working carefully and thoughtfully through these updates to ensure our programmes align with the revised expectations.

At classroom level, what matters most remains consistent: strong relationships, clear teaching, and purposeful learning.

The refreshed curriculum provides more specific guidance about what students are expected to learn at each year level, particularly in literacy, mathematics and science. For teachers, this brings greater clarity around sequencing — what is taught, when it is taught, and how learning builds over time.

You will see this reflected in our continued focus on high impact teaching practices across the school. This includes:

• Explicit instruction, where teachers clearly model and explain new learning
  
  

• Clear expectations so students understand what success looks like
  
  

• Consistent classroom routines that support focus and confidence
  
  

• Regular feedback to help students recognise their progress and next steps
  
  

These approaches are not new to us, but the refreshed curriculum strengthens the importance of consistency and clarity across year levels.

Over time, you may also notice some adjustments in the language we use when reporting progress, as we align with national expectations. Our core commitment, however, remains unchanged — supporting each child to grow in knowledge, confidence and capability.
