EOTC
Education Outside the Classroom is a significantly important aspect of New Zealand Education.
We use EOTC to help support the learning that is going on it our classrooms and wherever possible try and relate this back to our local community and environment. We are blessed to live in such a wonderful place where we can access the beautiful beaches as well as nearby estuaries to learn about ongoing changes in the world around us.
Year 5 & 6 Camp
Each year in term four our senior syndicate travel to Ngamuwahine Lodge to enjoy an exciting adrenalin filled week where they are give the opportunity to really enjoy the outdoors in a safe and well resourced facility.
Science in the Great Outdoors
As we increasingly use Science as a vehicle to engage our students in Literacy and Numeracy we have been able to look in our local backyard for experiences to enrich our learning. Students are given opportunities to gather data at the local estuary at Matapihi, and are looking to become involved in a stream clean-up and recovery alongside mana whenua, Ngai te Rangi.
