Beltran and his dog, Mancha.

Kath Joblin —

Beltran wrote a very convincing letter to Miss Joblin to ask permission to bring his dog to school to show his class. Beltran has been training his dog for many weeks and now she can do tricks. Miss Joblin wrote back and invited Beltran to bring Mancha to school to show her tricks to his class. And today was the day.

Miss Fielden's class enjoyed watching Beltran's dog, Mancha, performing tricks this morning. They learned about dog training and how much time it takes to teach tricks. They also took turns patting Mancha in the right way, even the children who are a bit afraid of dogs shared a pat. When the children set down their thoughts in their writing books it was obvious how much they had learned. The words they used to describe Mancha included: fluffy, friendly, soft, cute, cuddly and playful. Mancha is a five year old Jack Russell terrier. She can sit on command, she can roll over and she can do fist bumps. Mancha stood on her back legs and walked upright, she rolled, she high-fived and she followed all Beltran's instructions.

Thank you for bringing Mancha into school today Maurico and for being there to support Beltran. It is wonderful to see our children developing confidence and being able to express themselves so well in front of their peers.
