Holy Week- the most important week in our church's year.

Kath Joblin —

We remember the events which led up to Jesus' death and then we celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday - the reason we are Christians. Jesus Christ is giving us new life.

Yesterday Christians all around the world listened to the readings from scripture which detailed the events of Holy Week. Palm Sunday is the start of events which changed all of our lives. The people of Jerusalem came out onto the streets to see the man called Jesus who was known to have performed miracles in the area of Galilee.

The crowd was curious and excited but this fervour threatened the ruling classes and so during the week events unfolded which led to Jesus' arrest and death.

On Friday at assembly our junior class acted out the crowd greeting Jesus into Jerusalem. They shouted Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to the King.

During the week our senior classes are practising the Stations of the Cross liturgy which is the story of the events from Jesus' arrest to the taking down of his body from the cross to be laid in the tomb.

Here are the Mass times for this week- so that you can join us in reflecting on this very Christian week.
