STM Mid year Key Competency Report 2020

Kath Joblin —

Please look carefully at the report which was sent home in a big white envelope on Monday- we invite you to be part of the reporting process. If English isn't your first language please use the language buttons/flags on the website to change English into your home language. By doing this we are hoping that this report form will be easier to read and to respond.

Each child from Year 2-6 was given a report form for you to fill in. We are hoping to have all the report forms, with your comments on them, back at school by Wednesday next week so that the teachers (nga kaiako) can fill them in before they speak with you and your child at the learning conversations/meetings.

Here is the front cover page of the report form:

22/06/2020

Dear parents, caregivers and whanau,
As we come to the end of Term 2 one of the important tasks expected by the Ministry of Education is reporting student achievement and progress to parents.
2020 has been a most unusual year and the role of parents as first teachers has been a significant part of Bubble School on-line.
We want to acknowledge and thank you for your role in your child’s learning in the first half of the year.
We have created a report form which is designed to collect your thoughts and assessments of how your child learned and developed over the time in Bubble school. The statements are under headings which are called the key competencies ( from the NZ Curriculum document). Key competencies are the soft skills which 21st century learners need to enable them to be life- long learners.
This week we are sending you this report form so that you have time to fill in your ideas and comments. We would appreciate it if you returned the report to the school office by Wednesday 1st July.
The teachers will take the reports home with them over the holidays to read and then they will complete the report including assessment information they have collected this term.
In the second week of next term (end of July) we will be hosting three way conferences. You, your child and your child’s teacher will meet together to write three goals for the remainder of the year.
By constructing these goals together your children will have more choice and be more committed to reaching the goals they set for themselves with our guidance.
Thank you for your partnership and support,
Kath Joblin- Principal.
