Kina's trip to the Art Gallery and the Library.

Kath Joblin —

Our articles are written by Saraiah and Sophie from Kina team (Year 4). We celebrated their writing talents at Monday's assembly with writing awards. Congratulations girls.

I love writing by Saraiah Surgenor

I had been waiting for three weeks to go to Tauranga Art Gallery to see the artist Julia Morrison’s pottery, and today was the day. I got up extra early so I wouldn’t miss the bus. I fed all the animals and I got ready to go to school really early. It was 7.45a.m. when I got to school.

Then the bell rang. We said a quick prayer and then got organised. We got on the bus.

We had some time at the library, while Pipi was at the Art Gallery.

After we had our morning tea we swapped with Pipi and went to the Art Gallery and looked at Julia Morrison’s artwork. We met a kind lady called Fiona. We met another artist called Kelsey and his wife. Kelsey told us he was making a mural. He told us some things about himself. Fiona showed us what Cristena was painting. She was another artist. I was exhausted with all the listening I had to do.

We then went to make our own sculptures. When we made our sculptures, we had to poke a hole in the bottom. I did not make anything with my clay. I just put patterns on it.

We went back to school on the bus. I sat next to my Grandma and asked her millions of questions. The box my Grandma was holding on the bus had my sculpture in it. It was my big sculpture.

I would love to go to the Library and Art Gallery millions of times.

Our Trip by Sophie Fitzgerald

I was excited about our trip to the Library and Art Gallery. My heart was pounding with excitement. Finally I was at school. Kina 4 and Pipi were going.

We finally got on the bus and we got off at the bus stop. We went to the Library first and read books. Next we went to the Art Gallery and looked at sculptures. We found out we were going to make sculptures for ourselves.

Fiona told us that we were going to make bowls with clay. We needed to do a ball and put our finger in the clay. Next we sprayed water to keep the clay wet.

I saw Dad for two minutes. He asked Mrs Duncan if she wanted a coffee.

When we got back to school, I felt happy.

I would love to go to the Library and Gallery again.
