Kapa haka, orienteering, athletics, disco, Christmas twilight picnic, School Mass and prizegiving.

This is just a quick note to let you know about some of the events which are coming up in the next few weeks.

You are invited to the school’s athletics day which is being held next door at Arataki Park on the 8th November.

Year 0-2 will be practising their tabloid sports skills for the athletics day and they will also be taking part in the running races in their age group.

Year 3-6 are practising field sports as well as running in the lead up to athletics- highjump, long jump, discus, and the cricketball throw.

Just some explanation for you about the next steps for our athletes. For some reason this year there is a clash of dates for the cluster athletics and the World cup cricket competition, 17 November.

Our Year 4-6 students have opted to take part in the World Cup cricket competition rather than the cluster representative athletics day this year. Having the supersmash coaches teaching skills and Mr Webster supervising lunchtime cricket practices has made all our Year 4-6 students more determined to take on the other schools in cricket. We have three teams in the competition (24 players) so there is a very good chance of our school doing very well on the day.

27 October : 5 teams of Year 5+6 are involved in WBOP Orienteering.

10 November : Year 0+1 are participating in the Tauranga Moana Kapa haka day for pre-school and beginners at Mount Intermediate.

11 November: Year 2+3 are participating in the Catholic schools’ kapa haka day in Rotorua.

24 November : Twilight Picnic at school starting at 5-7.00 p.m. Performance: Kapa haka items, Christmas carols, a picnic- American hotdogs, drinks and dessert, also a sales table with Christmas gifts.

27 November: The beginning of Advent- preparation for the arrival of Jesus Christ, our saviour.

28-2 December: Year 5+6 camp at Ngamuwahine Lodge.

9 December : Christmas disco.

13 December: probably the date for the School Mass and prizegiving being held at 6.15 p.m. tbc.

14 December: School finishes for 2022 at 12.30.
