Kath Joblin —

Every Thursday Laura Buhr comes into our school to assist our students with gardening, sustainability and care of our environment. This learning is all part of the PiPS programme: People, Plants, Schools.

Today was a mulching day. A group of students from Mrs Nelson's homegroup enjoyed spreading mulch on our school gardens...a great time to do it as the temperatures drop and the plants need to be wrapped up over these frosty winter days. Mulch is used to keep the temperature of the soil more consistent and to keep moisture close to the roots.

In the background of the little photo you can see the Chaytor Fencing contractors who arrived to repair the gaps in our boundary fences this morning. People try to open up gaps in the fence so they don't have to walk around our property to get to Gloucester Road or the park. Our basketball courts are a temptation too. The holes start small but very soon they are man-sized. Father Stuart alerted us to the big gaps under the Gloucester boundary fence- kids were able to crawl under and chase balls across the road. It seems to be a never ending problem. Thank you Chaytor fencing for coming out so quickly when we called. Please keep an eye on our school property over the holidays and if you see something wrong send us a message through our facebook page. Thank you.
