EPRO8 success!
Our Year 5 and 6 team won the Epro8 competitions yesterday at St Mary's School, Rotorua. Thank you Mr Webster and Matua Liam for your hours of coaching and encouragement- what a great win.
The Epro8 construction challenges were just some of the sections in the STEM competition held between our community of Catholic schools in Rotorua.
Epro8 is a competition where students turn engineering drawings into 3D models. Amongst the challenges they faced were two large models; to construct a large tabernacle (the cabinet in which the Eucharist is stored in the church) and a water wheel with moving parts for people in areas with severe drought conditions.
Our teams and Aubert teams were well ahead in this section of the competition.
There was an orienteering race around St Mary's School Rotorua and our teams did very well with this challenge because Mr Webster has been running orienteering at our school for many years.
There were mathematical problems to solve and coding. Cody achieved 10/10 for coding which was a major factor in our team's success.
