Ngamuwahine Lodge

Kath Joblin —

Every year our Year 5+6 students head up the Kaimais to the fantastic Ngamuwahine Camp in the bush.

This year we stayed three nights and four days. During that time everyone had the opportunity to rock climb, to kayak, to do triathlon, to hang on a flying fox, to sleep in big tents, to do paintballing, to do rifle shooting at targets, and so much more.

The important thing about camp is comparing how much more you can do now you are a Year 6. During the week the Year 5 campers set themselves goals for the next time they come up to Ngamuwahine- and everyone sets a personal best.

We had great support from Bart Zame, Charles Latu snr, Jeff Farrell, Jamie Smyth, David de Graaf, Bjorn Nielsen, Ankur Verma and Cath Robson (in the kitchen).

This was the last camp for Mr Webster after 15 years of inspiring so many. Richard is so organised and he thrives in the bush. It takes him back to the term he spent at the St Paul's camp as a youngster - camping brings out the best in everyone. Thank you Mrs Thomas - the partnership might be breaking up but we are so lucky to have you back at the end of 2024 to lead our two new teachers in their Ngamuwahine experience.
