We celebrated being part of a wonderful diverse school community at our cultural evening - sharing lots of delicious food.

Kath Joblin —

It was brilliant to see our new families and supporters enjoying conversation, good food and tunes together last night in our gathering space.

The evening started quite early for many - five o'clock- and this gave children a chance to play on the playground while their parents introduced each other and had a bit of a catchup. We blessed the food and settled down to try a wide variety of food from many cultural influences.

Our learning has been focused on crossing the ocean to Aotearoa- the Paua team have constructed waka models after learning about the ocean going navigators who discovered Aotearoa. The Kina team and the Pipi teams have been talking about the journeys their families have made to this beautiful country - from Ireland, Italy, Australia, the Philippines, India, Brazil, South Africa and Europe.

The fifty or so children ( with their pre-school brothers and sisters) starred with songs they are singing at the Mount Intermediate Early learning festival and the latest kapa haka action songs they have been learning on line. The numbers were small but the volume was big, so were the smiles of the parents who were filming their little stars. Thank you to the staff who came along to support the evening.

Thank you for joining in the fun everyone - we can't wait to gather again for our Christmas celebration.
