Year 9 Humanities

Daniel O'Brien —

This week in Year 9 Humanities we have been completing the presentation of our speeches. We have had some very interesting topics that students have been persuading their peers on, from Fake news to the ideal Voting Age and Gun Laws in New Zealand compared with the United States.

Next week we begin a four week rotation where students have chosen a specific topic to explore and subsequently become experts in their field. This will be completed with a Real Assessment Task (RAT) directed by their topic area.

The topics for selection are:

  1. Maori Land wars and the European Invasion
  2. Vietnam War: the bloodiest war in history
  3. Independence: the fight for freedom
  4. Conflict through drama, creating a performance

The students will remain in one of these topic areas for the remainder of term and will present their findings in week 10.
