MCPB - Student Report
2019 has been another stellar year for St Thomas, and no less can be said for Mr Burton’s MCPB form class. The fellas welcomed new faces to the group as well as seeing some eventual departures, with Levani Rova, Risias Mutonhori and Cameron Brewitt as graduating Year 13’s along with Luke Hayes in Year 12 earlier in the year.
Sporting accomplishments were plentiful throughout the group as numerous national and regional representations were made. Risias Mutonhori and Ollie Cosgrove both travelled overseas as a part of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Football for their respective age groups. Ngaheke Napatu represented Canterbury Touch and the soon to be household name, Felix Fa’atili, continued his Rugby League dominance entering the Youth NRL scene in Australia.
However, the most prominent but somewhat controversial sporting achievement to come out of MCPB was from Cameron Brewitt winning the bragging rights over Mr Burton, as his Springboks took the cake over the All Blacks at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, of which took a huge amount of resistance not to remind the rest of the school about ... "up the bokke"!
The form class was able to contribute strongly to the McClintock Special Character Day festivities and put out the best haka on the day. Young gun Ben Hodgson was among the breakthrough stars that were the Year 8 band and regularly performed for the boys at lunchtimes, assemblies and prizegivings.
Overall a huge effort for the the form class this year big things await in 2020!
