Special Character Week: Celebrating the Eucharist
The end of term two was a true celebration of what
it means to belong to Saint Thomas of Canterbury College.
Jesus said that faith is something we live and never something to hide away… “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:15).
We celebrated the Eucharist as a whole College community. The Christian brothers, whanau and friends including the Catholic Mission Team (who run our retreats) joined us too. It was a great blessing to see so many STCC Young Men stepping up and embracing the Gospel challenge through the Catholic sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
They are: Diego Lavin (Year 7), Rakai Stone, Nicholas Dravitzki, Isaiah Ong, Caleb Sullivan and James McLennan (Year 9s), Joseph Dravitzki (Year 11) and Samuel Irving (Year 12).
We thank their families for joining us.
This was a project run by Father Rick Loughnan, Thomas Saywell and the Mass celebrant Father John Adams. We thank them for their wonderful guidance and look forward to working closely with them again soon.
Do you want become a Catholic? Do you want
to formally acknowledge your spirituality through informal workshops and
conversations culminating in a public celebration? We’re already gathering
names of interested people ready for the College’s end of year Mass. Please contact me here at the College to chat
about this.
Yours in Christ
