An educational programme for Pasifika families

POWER UP PLUS

We have had an awesome start to our PowerUP Plus programme for Pasifika families on the west side of Christchurch. Students from St Thomas have been excellent hosts to students from five other secondary schools and three primary schools.

Together we have shared devotions and dinner, then separated into groups. While parents have been learning I.T. skills in the Computers in Homes programme, senior secondary students have been tutored in NCEA subjects by qualified teachers and UC students. Junior secondary, primary and ECE students have their own programmes led by qualified teachers.

You are warmly invited to be a part of the PowerUP Plus West programme.

Monday evenings at St Thomas of Canterbury College, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The plan for each evening is:

5:00 p.m. Devotions

5:10 p.m. Dinner

5:30 p.m. Separate sessions:

1) Parents’ workshop

2) Pre-school programme

3) Primary programme

4) Junior secondary homework programme

5) NCEA tutoring for senior secondary students

6:50 p.m. Closing prayer
