RIMG has had a fantastic year
RIMG has had a fantastic year. Whether it be in the classroom or the sporting arena, there have been some incredible achievements.
Tayler and Matthew both went on the Queenstown rugby trip at the end of Term 3. They both loved playing rugby in 2016. Matthew scoring a try was one of many highlights.
Jayden found the swimming sorts and athletics at the start of the year to be a highlight for him while Jack found playing in his tennis tournament, which was also at the start of the year, memorable as well. Criese enjoyed playing basketball for his school team this year.
Friday form classes would often be filled with FIFA, which Luke really enjoyed. He also passed Level 1. Speaking of Level 1, Findlay and Mitchel completed their Level 1 art portfolios.
Finn found going to Maadi Cup at Ruataniwha “awesome”. Jack has also taken up rowing this year, and loved being a part of the Novice Quad. Jakob continued his devotion to Rowing with some outstanding achievements early in the season.
Reagan's 2016 highlight is when he won Junior International Trampolining Under 19. This is a massive achievement, and RIMG and STC back him 100%. We are all excited to hear about more competitions which we are sure will end with success in the near future.
The fair and STC week were highlights for RIMG. Combining with RIMA hundreds of dollars were raised from the food stall and FIFA competitions while George found selling Jumbo Pops for his Year 12 business class a highlight.
Casey and James rounded off the Year 12's of RIMG, all of whom have big shoes to fill next year as Year 13's Jakob and Nic will have left St Thomas'. (Who's going to get the Pizza Hut now I wonder??") Everyone appreciated the fact that Nic “acquired” a Playstation for the class which has been the source of much keen competition and hilarity.
In the final activity for the year the junior students of RIMG are joining with RIMA to collect as many good quality toys, books and games to donate to the Christchurch City Mission to help make Christmas a special time for families in need. Already the shelves are nearly full with some class members choosing to bring in suitable donations of non-perishable food and a few making a cash donation.
RIMG has had a year jam packed with shared lunches, Kahoots, competitions and FIFA, alongside these many incredible successes. 2017 will surely be another huge year for RIMG.
