2015 has been a challenging and rewarding year for the RE team. We have been positively reviewed by both ERO and the Catholic Education Office. Most importantly, students have come to class with a willingness to learn and contribute to classes. This makes learning times more fun – when the students take control of the debates, ideas, prayers and discussions – and allows us all to share.

We have also developed more collaborative learning environments allowing students to have greater control of their learning and assessment. The Mount Sion building is a real blessing for this.

I have been very impressed with the quality of teaching and the willingness for teachers to review their teaching through student voice. Next year we will be offering new topics, standards and teaching methods to further engage the hearts, minds and communities of our learners.

We have used the Chapel space for reflection, celebrated Mass outside for the sacrament of Confirmation, done community work with local schools, IHC groups and rest homes. Thanks to all the staff, guest speakers and especially the students for exploring Gospel values both inside and outside the classroom.

On behalf of the College I would like to sincerely thank Father Rick Loughnan for his contribution to the College as a guest speaker, Mass celebrant and Sacrament coordinator. We look forward to working closely with Father Rick in the years to come.
