Year 10 Rite Journey

Paul Burton —

November saw our whole Year 10 cohort, travelling north to the Lewis Pass to experience the annual Rite Journey camp!

The purpose of this camp is to push our young men mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically!

We were lucky to have amazing weather. The young men experienced some very hot conditions as they trekked with heavy packs up the valleys and through the bush. As part of this experience they spend a night in the bush completing their solo. A chance to reflect on what is important in their lives, what they are grateful for and what change they can make moving forward to become the best version of themselves. They are also required to write a letter to themselves on the solo night. This is placed in an envelope and is given back to them when they complete Year 13 and graduate from the College.

We congratulate the boys on completing this huge part of their transition to senior school and look forward to watching these men continue to grow and implement many of the lessons taught throughout this programme.

A big thanks to the Rite journey teachers this year and staff who attended the camp to assist - Andrew Auimatagi, Kieran Coll, Phil McKendry, Tom Tennent, Blair Scadden, Tim Muir, Chris Leader.

Haere Whakamua Kia Kaha! Go forward, be strong!
