 Lianne Dalziel visits STC

Stephen Kennedy —

I July we welcomed Lianne Dalziel, Mayor of Christchurch to out College. Lianne is a long time supporter of STCC. The last time she visited us was as a Member of Parliament who painted a picture for our PFA to sell at an art auction.

This time we discussed issues facing 21st century education and toured the school. She was very impressed with the new gym, construction of the STEAM block and the busy hive of learning in Mount Sion. We showed her the team teaching in year 11RE, Year 13 Maths and Year 8. Lianne thought the classes were dynamic, flexible and fun.

Pictured here is Blake Sinclair (8P) sharing his cool coding project he made using Scratch.Huge thanks to Matt Evans and Julie Maxwell who warmly welcomed Lianne into their classrooms. Thanks also to Christine O’Neill, Paul Donnelly, Steve Hart and Brad Milne for engaging Lianne in a conversation space around the future of learning, the city rebuild and the leading edge pedagogy we are developing here at STCC.
