Young Enterprise wins National Award

Brendan Biggs —

The YES boys were great company in Wellington and presented themselves so well at the Dragon's Den yesterday. Interest in their product was very high. Lots of walking from one end of city to the other and singing in the streets.

We were not in the top placings but did win a great National Award that shows product potential in NZ AND The Pacific, the NZ Aid Programme Award for International Development.

The winner: Where's Woolly ... product from Nelson College was a play on the book Where's Wally .. with a search for a sheep in NZ locations. They sold thousands of copies and in 40 retailers. On best seller lists and expanding into mandarin to meet the Chinese market demand. They got an awards for sales and marketing as well and top enterprise teacher.

Boys were accompanied at the evening by Ronald Puni - past head boy at STC and now in his fifth year of his medical degree working at the Wellington hospital. After being slightly frustrated that the meal at Te Papa was not a buffet ...they settled in for a very posh event with MC Andrew Lumsden aka:Te Radar and speeches from Rt Hon Patsy Reddy (Governor General), Steven Joyce and Bill English.
