The 1st 11 Cricket team 2019

Tim Muir —

The 1st 11 Cricket team 2019

The 1st 11 Cricket team had a very successful season. They qualified for the quarterfinals of the Gillete cup only to lose to Christs College. However, this created some belief amongst the group as it showed them that they aren't far of being a competitive first 11. The team won their one day competition convincingly with only one narrow defeat throughout the whole journey. Cricket at the school has never looked stronger and we are hoping to really build upon this success. It would be great to see more young gentlemen out on a Saturday off their devices and enjoying playing competitive sport with their mates. If this sounds like you then please come along and give it a crack.

Player Profiles

Fraser Buckley

It was an honour to captain the STC first XI in my final year at the college. It was an amazing feeling to walk out onto the pitch knowing I had 10 talented young cricketers following behind. The progress made by the team and individuals were exciting to be a part of and the results show how far we progressed though the year. Led by a core of experienced players and with the help of my vice captain, Will, we managed to win our division and make it to the Gillette cup Canterbury quarter finals. I’m very proud of the boys and look forward to hearing about their personal and team successes next year.

Will Andrews

I had a great final season playing for St Thomas. As a team we managed to achieve great results and represent our school with pride. It was an honour to complete my last season with the school with such a great team playing in a great environment. It was also great to finish on such a high with my fellow year 13 leavers Nathan and Fraser. It was great to play for St Thomas and I wish them the best for the future

Kieran Charlton

It has been a great 3rd season for the first XI this season. It was an amazing feeling walking out on the field beside you blokes showing MANAWA and pride for cricket here at stc putting our body on the line, Nath especially. The results showed how far we progressed though the year achieving things we didn't know we could achieve individually and as a team. Yes, we had ups and downs and we will still have many more to come buts that's cricket. Shot to the Yr 13 lads who committed there time, commitent and mahi to stc cricket. No doubt you have left a legacy for cricket at stc. I'm looking forward to my 4th and final season for the first XI with you blokes once again, ready and hoping to continue to knock even more poles over. Looking to do better than last season. Eventually end up doing more with the willow. Opening the batting? If Muir allows it. Sorry Max Smail boss you are down the order. Let's go! #manawa

Kieran Prendergast

First part of the season has been below average. Looking forward to improving with the bat and ball. Highlight of the season was probably playing at the willows.

Max Sergel-Stringer

This season has been a good introduction into higher quality games, I hope that next years season allows me to develop even more than I have

Angus Dempster

Season was pretty good need to get better with the bat and ball so hope next year brings about some better performances.

Isaac Redmond

This has been been a very enjoyable season for me as I have really been challenged against the older teams and players I have been versing. I have been pushed to improve throughout the season am I am looking forward to next season already.

Harrison Watkins

My season been pretty good, a bit of a slow start personally with a couple of low scores, but as the amount of games I played my confidence grew and helped me play better in all formats. Looking forward to the sessions to come.

Nathan Bruce

Great team man, can hit a great line and length at will. Loves to bat.

Tyler Bruce

Showed signs of his ability and has a very bright future ahead of him in the 1st 11.

Max Smail

Second spinner who can open the batting. Looking for a big season ahead.

Nick Price

Could be someone to watch next season. A hard worker with the ball and has potential to score big runs with the bat.

Lachlan Messervy

Will be someone to look out for next year with the bat and ball. Doesn't say much but when he does people listen.
