MCJQ Article

MCJQ started off this year as MCJM with Ms. Maxwell as the teacher of our mentor class. Ms Maxwell took the class through Term 1 with Swimming Sports and Athletics Day and we welcomed two new Year 7’s to our mentor class. RJ Tikolevu and Blake Wallace have been a welcome addition to the class, finally meaning Brooklan Jones (now in Y9) is no longer the youngest in the mentor class. Our Y7’s have settled in well and enjoyed all of their first time St Thomas’ experiences, particularly Special Character week, learning the school Haka and embracing all the different subjects they have access to at St Thomas’.

In term 2, Mrs Quinn returned from Maternity Leave and has very much enjoyed taking this class through to the end of the year. A highlight of Term 2 was the school fair which saw the best of our salesmen come to the fore to market our lollies and sherbert against stiff competition from Mr Baker’s class who set up with the same goods right next to us! Felise, Zeb, Harrison L and Kaya led the sales team making us a very respectable profit. Next year we are hoping for even better results!

We have a number of Y12’s heading into Y13 next year- Alexander, Harrison L, Harrison W, Ethan and Zeb. These boys have been great leaders in our mentor class and no doubt will be great assets to the school as Y13 leaders next year as well.

Our mentor class has had a great year overall. Watching our young men grow together and share fun times in Mentor class and during special school events has been a particular highlight. The boys have had another year filled with challenges too and have risen to these extremely well. We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for us!
