Staff Leaving 2018

Brendan Biggs —

Staff Leaving 2018

It is time to say goodbye to valuable staff:

Elmarie Els follows her husband to Wellington and takes up a new position at Mana College. I have enjoyed moving things a fraction on her desk as she is ultra organised. I am scared even saying this as she has powers unlike other Principal's PAs! Elmarie has been a great support to us blokes and acted as a supportive compass for us after Christine O'Neill left. Mana College is definitely very lucky to receive her.

Paul Donnelly left STC to take up a position at Rangiora High School. Paul has worked with us as the Director of Religious Education for the last eight years and is informally known as "Don Don". He is an energetic and passionate worker who is all about striving for the best for the students. We will all miss his mass-comments where he travelled from the script, at times, and we got the "fire and brimstone" version! The under 13 Rugby team will miss his passionate halftime talks and sideline banter!

Sara Hunter leaves for a life of travel and opportunity!

Sara Hunter – “My final year at STC after 27 years teaching here. This place has been a very large part of my life and holds an important place in my heart. I have enjoyed my many years here. I have taught across generations, teach alongside gentlemen that I taught (which was weird at first!), obviously had my ups and downs but will leave this place with a lot of good memories. Thank you to all of you, past and present, who made my career here rewarding and enjoyable. Go forward and achieve success in your chosen field but, more importantly, be happy in yourself and your relationships. My love to you all.”

Duncan Hume, our Cyclone tech, leaves STC to be closer to family, and take up a new position at Cyclone in the Deep South … Invercargill.

Bernie Lee - 1 year study leave investigating digital addictions and the impact on student behaviour in secondary school. we look forward to her case study.

Jason Wang - 1 year study leave completing his Masters in Education. Jason is also looking into digital addictions and the impact upon junior maths education in single sex schools in NZ.
