RIDS Mentoring 2021

Dean Smith —

RIDS is a mentoring group recognized for always been filled with a bunch of characters. It is evenly mixed with students from all age groups and all different walks of life. The student’s interests ranged from the elite gaming to becoming future sporting superstars. A highlight for the year in this mentor class was STC week. This gave the boys an opportunity to create a stall and successfully raise money towards the school. The team did extremely well, raising over $100 from cooking/selling dumplings.

The mentor challenge afternoon was another highlight as our group of young men dominated in every competition, proving the skill and teamwork within the group. Also, great to see students of different age groups working together on team challenges. This year we had three Year 13’s (Jack Mitchell, Patrick Riley and Connor McSoriley). These men have been at the college for several years and active members of RIDS. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors. It is great to see our new students (Lewis Roughan, Dylan Williams, Sebastian Elliott and Ryan Foster) mixing with the rest of the group and forming very positive relationships.

I wish the group a safe and happy holiday, it has been an awesome year and I look forward to picking up where we left off.
