JORF

Rachael Fowler —

Year 13

During this year’s Special Character week, it gave year 13 students many opportunities to show leadership and help provide the school with a great week. Such events during the week included the college fair, form class games, talent show and haka/singing competitions.

As the year 13s of JORF we mainly helped set up entertaining games during the form class game day, like gumboot throw and human battleships. As well as participating in the school talent show with songs like Smoko by the chats. We also got the opportunity to help other year 13s with house practices.

Shave for a cure

One of our years 13s in JORF participated in shave for a cure, this was to raise money and awareness to help fight the battle against cancer.

Chess club

We also helped with a few other year 13 members in building the school's chess club, which allowed many people from around the school to get together and participate in something they can all relate to.

Year 9 &10

This year there have been a lot of events like athletics, special character week, swimming sports and many more. As a year 9 and 10 group of JORF we enjoyed special character week. There were a lot of events in special character week and to start off the week there was the mentor class fun activities. The talent show where there were a lot of good acts. The fair which there was some good stools and a lot of money raised. To finish off the week with a singing and haka competition.

Year 7 & 8

Special character week was good as it had the fair on Wednesday which everybody enjoyed and had fun at, The Summer sports was fun as most year 7’s and 8’s got to do something fun out of school got poured on at the end of it though. Tuesday sport was fun for most people, but some did not really like it, there was Ping-Pong and real sweats doing it and some were angry about it. Shave for a cure, to all those who did it had a rough time at school as ‘’I like Ya cut G’’ was popular back then so they got slapped in the back of the head. Most people enjoyed the small lock-down to get out of school for a bit like a mini-holiday, yet we still had to do schoolwork. There was Athletics where everyone enjoyed doing their sport in it, long jump, Shot-Put, Running. It was all fun and everybody enjoyed it.
