ART - Level THREE Portfolios 2016

Brendan Biggs —

2016 has seen the St Thomas Art Department continue its approach of multi level and discipline classes that operate under the philosophy of “Every student has the right to pass.” Thankfully they do.

Level Three Art

Level three Art see’s for some the culmination of four years of Art study. Year 13 Students like Campbell McNeill this year gained two level three Arts Photography and Printmaking, having already gained level 3 Design last year. This has given him three University Entrance subjects, a pathway he is sure to follow. Matthew Cross is another who gained Design last year and gained two level three Arts this with Sculpture and Photography. Both have been outstanding but are not alone, they are joined by the likes of Matthew Rogal, Daniel Wilson Roberts, Finn Roberts and the overall Design winner for 2016 Nicolaas van der Erf, all of whom have generated work of which they can truly be proud.

There are many Year 12 students who have excelled this year in Design - Te Aotahi Rice Edwards, Matthew Poole, Bradley Saunders and Photography – Thomas Bell, Thomas Bennett, Samuel Peffers. Many of these also completed a Level 2 Art as well and gained high results.

Overall your Visual Arts Departments is populated by talented and hardworking young men who when placed under pressure are not crushed but squeezed into focus. God Bless them all.
