Daniel O'Brien —

The end of the term is upon us and when we reflect on the last 10 weeks, we can take pride in the efforts of our young men and their achievements. Our firsts in rugby, football and basketball can take heart in their performances and will be better for their experiences. Shakespeare describes the ability to learn from our experiences as "wise men ne'er sit and wail their loss, but cheerily seek how to redress their harms." Resilience is the key to success both in the class room and on the sporting field.

This week we hosted Santiago College who were finishing their Australia and New Zealand sporting exchange. Our U15 rugby, junior 1st XI football and junior basketballers enjoyed the sporting friendship of the international exchange. A lasting memory for some of the boys was the chance to swap jerseys and converse with the young men from Chile. St Thomas’ were successful in both the football and basketball.

Finally, a big thank you to all of our coaches and managers who have worked tirelessly throughout the winter season to ensure our students are given every opportunity to excel on the sporting field.
