On Monday 20th August, a group of 12 Year 9 and 10 Alpha students attended a day at Ara looking at food science.The labs were in the chemistry block of Ara and the boys analyzed a meal of fish and chips for its fat and protein content . They also used chemical assay methods to separate and identify the fats present in the food sample, as well as rating a range of takeaway meals for their fat content and healthiness score. The boys had a good day and carried out some complicated techniques with a high level of skill. Thanks to ARA and Mr Scadden for organizing this opportunity for the boys.
